Songs of Alaska

Last update: January 31, 1999

You can get a screensaver that plays Alaska's official state song, "Alaska's Flag". This state song along with all the other official state songs is also available on Coolidge 50.

There is no particular order to the songs listed below. I welcome any and all suggestions and especially corrections, as well as additional information on any song listed below.

    Songs of love for Alaska

  • "To the Wild Country", John Denver, I Want to Live (RCA 5192-2-R)

  • "Alaska & Me", John Denver, Higher Ground (Windstar WR 53336-2) and Calypso (Laserlight 12927) and various collections.

  • "Alaska" on Trying to Get it Right" (Waterbug 17, release date: 07/25/95) by Kate MacLeod; also on Tell it True (Sugar Hill 3846, release date: 03/19/96) by Mollie O'Brien

  • "Alaska" on Live from around the World (Philo 1195, release date: 03/11/97) by Kristina Olsen

    Honorable mention

  • "Anchorage", Michelle Shocked, is a great song, but "You know you're in the biggest state in the union when you're anchored down in Anchorage" is just too little to call it a love song for Alaska (Short, Sharp, Shocked, Mercury 834-924-2), since Shell is in New York.

    Uncertain terrain

  • "Alaska Trailer" on John Beal Trailer Project by John Beal (2 CD set, Sonic Images 8815, release date: 10/06/98

  • "Alaska" on Carved in Stone (Magna Carta 9001, release date: 07/06/95) by Shadow Gallery

  • "Alaska" on U.K. (Eg 35, release date: 01/24/90) and Night after Night Eg 42, release sate: 09/11/90) by U.K.

  • "Alaska" on " It's Love" (K Records 43, release date: 09/22/95), by the Softies

  • "Alaska" on " Cactology by Cactus

    Nope, naw, uh-uh

  • "Springtime in Alaska" (Johnny Horton) has little to say about Alaska.

  • Please NOT "North to Alaska" or "Saginaw, Michigan"!
