Songs of Iowa |

Last update: January 18, 1999
The official state song is
"The song of
Iowa"; read its story.
This state song along with all
the other official state songs is also available on
Coolidge 50.
I welcome any and all suggestions
and especially corrections, as well as additional information on any
song listed below.
Songs of love for Iowa
- "Tall Grass and Short Women" is included for Iowa along with songs for all
the other states on Coolidge 50.
- "Iowa Waltz" by Greg Brown of Iowa City. Unfortunately, I do not know
whether this is instrumental only.
- "When it's Apple Blossom Time in Iowa" by Tom Wills,
nephew of the Bob Wills (Prairie Music Records, Atlantic, Iowa; 712-243-
4554).
Although this is more of a human love song set in Iowa than a love song for
Iowa, I listed it anyway.
- "Iowa Lands" on
Rockabye (WEA/Elektra Entertainment
61289, release date: 09/01/92) by Robin Holcolm
Honorable mention
- "Iowa Stubborn" from
The Music Man (Emd/Angel 64663, release date: 11/17/92) by
original broadway cast
- "Iowa Girl", on
Reunion Rag (Flying Fish FF 70576) by Dakota Dave Hull (of
Missouri)
Uncertain terrain
- "Iowa Summer" on
You Loved Me (Anya Robert 5002, release date: 07/13/98) by Anya &
Robert
- "Iowa Chill" on
Country, original soundtrack with George Winston, Steve
Schaeffer, Mark Isham, Michael Boddicker, Darol Anger
